3/13/08 PTO Meeting

Started with a prayer from Meg Skowran

She then introduced Sister Julie

Sister Julie works with the correction house.   She chairs the mission of the Catholic Schools.   Sister Julie talked about the Catholic School Board and the history of Catholic schools.

There is a standing committee called Mission.  (Why do we do what we do?)  Sister Julie has met with Meg and Donna (the principals).  She has also met with the teachers.  She plans on meeting with some of the parents in some way.  The committee’s purpose is to put “flesh” on the mission statement words.   The committee plans to put forth actions to back up the mission statement.

She also highlighted information from the www.ncea.org web site.     This was to learn about statistics on the greater catholic education throughout the United States.

It’s projected that when the Catholic Churches are sold that the some of the monetary funds will stay within the Pittsfield catholic community.

Stephanie than talked about the planetarium that came as an inflated dome to St. Mark.   It was very well received and was reported by one of the TV networks.   This was brought forth by the hard work of Mr.Collins and Miss Lou.  Thank you

There was talked about the laser show.  It also was very well received by the students and faculty.

Stephanie wants to turn over the fundraiser because she is burned out.  If anyone is interested please contact Stephanie.

Randy's last season at St. Mark is next year, so if there is interest in keeping the bonfire alive, please contact him or Judy Gladden so they can transition the incoming person or people.

We will be doing a spaghetti dinner for a fundraiser for Allison Wolfe and her family after the April vacation.    For those that do not know, Allison has been undergoing some medical issues and as a St. Mark community we would like to help them out.    We are looking for volunteers. Please see Meg Skowran if interested.

Mrs Shaker announced that the Fun Fair will be Friday May 30th 5 to 8p.m.   Climbing wall has already been secured.

No water activities will be at the Fun Fair.  It was considered but decided that water is too messy.  She needs all the volunteers she can get.  Please contact her ASAP so that she can finalize any planning.
